Green Business Index is an encouraging initiative that contributes to raising awareness on the importance of the environmental practices in Romania. At Sonae Sierra we have long acknowledged that environmental and social performance have a direct impact on our business and thus we address them integrated within our activity. We are glad to see there are more companies interested in this sustainable approach, while there is also a Romanian recognition of high standards that evaluates and distinguishes these efforts.
Ingo Nissen, Managing Director SONAE SIERRA
Today, the non-financial reporting, which proves the sustainability of enterprises, is a common practice in the worldwide business sector. It is a trend that is extending also locally and from which the romanian companies will take benefit more and more. We encourage the entire business community in Romania to join the Green Business Index initiative and effort to enhance the sustainability of Romanian business environment. This will be for the benefit of each company that seeks sustainable development, as organizations that responsibly manage their social and environmental impacts benefit from greater operational efficiency, better management of resources, but also a repositioning in relation to shareholders , employees and partners. EY Romania is supporting the GBI team as we consider that this measurement and reporting instrument can be a valuable differentiation factor for companies, which has the role of reinforcing the confidence of investors and employees. Non-financial reporting will be an increasingly important element in assessing the quality of companies’ management and will generate better access to sources of capital.
Bogdan Ion, Country Managing Partner, EY Romania
The world is rapidly changing and it is increasingly clear that the state of the world around us affects the way we do business, which likewise applies to our actions that affect the environment. In the current context, when companies are required greater transparency over risks, providing information on sustainable development/environmental protection is highly appreciated by stakeholders, which contributes to ensuring improved competitiveness and market positioning for those companies that make this information public. In this respect, we appreciate and support the GBI initiative to provide companies with a tool to assess their environmental performance, thus enabling them to identify performance improvement opportunities, therefore promoting sustainable development in the Romanian business sector.
Geta Diaconu, Director, Sustainability Advisory Services, KPMG
The need for sustainability is no longer a matter of tendencies, it became a new dimension in business performance. Designed as an assessment tool for “green” achievements, Green Business Index is doing more than an inventory of enterprises’ activities: GBI is encouraging the business sector to set a path towards sustainable development and efficiency of resource use, therefore supporting the economic performance on the long term.
We are delighted that DHL is for the 4th time winner at Green Business Index. Comparing to the previous edition, the stakes are much higer. Green Revolution has prepared a new set of questionnaires and a new application, thus helping us evaluate our environmental performance and, thus, enabled us to be among the best in this competition.”
Marinela Nedelcu, Quality & Environment Specialist DHL International România SRL.
Although we are at our 3rd participation at Green Business Index, it has been a challenge to us to assess our environmental performance in much more detail. But this proves once more that this competition is serious, and we are happy to be part of it
Miclea Elian, Investment engineer & environment responsible, Hochland Romania
GBI is a complex, well structured assessment, requiring a lot of information. It is captivating to fill in the questionnaires for anyone working in sustainability, and it challenges us very much by its scope. We have been enabled by taking part at GBI 2015 to find out where we are in terms of performance, but also to see we can do to continuously improve our Company’s environmental performance through involving the entire team at DANONE, and which are those areas where additional environmnental benefits can be generated
Valentin Dragomir, Environment Manager, Danone Romania
